Why come to LILAC

LILAC is aimed at librarians and information professionals who teach information literacy skills, are interested in digital literacies and who want to improve the information seeking and evaluation skills of all library users whoever they may be. The conference incorporates keynote speeches and parallel sessions covering many different areas of the field, from school to academic libraries, from public sector to national libraries. We encourage and support networking and sharing of expertise between all IL professionals attending.

Our delegates have said:

“I think the committee should be congratulated for an absolutely fabulous conference. It seemed like the best ever to me, I got so much out of it, in terms of ideas, new contacts, general buzz and enthusiasm of people sharing their work.”

“I think the keynotes were fantastic and the range of choice in the parallel sessions excellent – something for everybody.”

“Experiencing what other librarians are promoting for the learning and development of information literacy skills in their libraries was eye-opening. The keynote speakers were all excellent…Finally, connecting with librarians from all over the world, who are all experiencing the same challenges professionally, was an invaluable experience in itself.”

“The international mix is especially nice, and the programme is always filled with excellent ideas and speakers.”

“On the whole it was a great programme…networking is an integral part of the conference, and I made some new friends/acquaintances that I have already shared ideas with and will continue to do so.”

“I enjoyed the range of parallels sessions I had to choose from so I could tailor attendance to my information needs”

“I found the conference very motivating…it was a combination of the enthusiasm of speakers, ideas and tips from workshops and discussion of experiences with other delegates that made the conference really valuable to me. I came away with a lot of ideas, big and small.”

“It was my first conference and the enthusiasm of the attendees was contagious. I left feeling energised.”

“This was the most thoughtfully orchestrated conference I have been to. All aspects of the conference were so well planned, from the tea breaks to the order of the keynote speakers. I am really impressed by the presenters, keynote speakers and the LILAC Committee itself – I am still raving about it to my colleagues!”
