Sue Lacey Bryant (Day 1)

Biography

Sue Lacey BryantSue Lacey Bryant chairs the national Health and Digital Literacy Partnership, of which she is a founding member. She is currently a knowledge management consultant, a coach and Visiting Professor in Knowledge and Information Mobilisation at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her research is examining the information functions required to mobilise knowledge, and key dimensions of knowledge mobilisation in the practice of information professionals.

Formerly Chief Knowledge Officer for the NHS in England (until May 2024) and prior to that a Director of a Clinical Commissioning Group, Sue remains focused on addressing health inequalities. She is a mentor for the Complete Care Community Programme and co-editor of a special issue of Learning Health Systems on health equity. Her experience as the immediate past President of CILIP has strengthened her appreciation of the contribution of library and information professionals in supporting learning, literacy and social mobility for everyone in our society.

Sue took a leading role in the Topol Review on preparing the healthcare workforce for the digital future, and subsequently initiated CILIP's review of the impact of AI, machine learning, automation and robotics on the information profession. Sheila Webber (Day 2)

Biography

Sheila WebberSheila Webber is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Information, Journalism and Communication at the University of Sheffield, UK. Her research and teaching focus is exploration of the meaning of Information Literacy and of people's lifelong relationship with information. Her engagement with IL education started in the 1980's, teaching people to use early online systems at the British Library, and she continues to develop people's IL in person, online, and in virtual worlds. One of her current interests is investigating the interaction between gamers, computer games, and information. Since 2005 she has curated the Information Literacy Weblog, creating 300 posts a year with IL-relevant news, events and publications. She is currently a Board Member of the Information Literacy is A Discipline (ILIAD) collaboration and an individual member of the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Alliance. Sheila's previous professional involvement includes Co-chairing the UNESCO MIL Alliance European sub-chapter; committee membership of the IFLA Information Literacy Section; and membership of the SCONUL Working Group on Information Literacy and of the CILIP Information Literacy Group committee. Sheila is an Honorary Fellow of CILIP, and recipient of the Jason Farradane Award (for excellence in education and teaching in information science and for raising the profile of the information profession), the international Thinkerer Award (for collaborative development within immersive environments) and the University of Sheffield Senate Award for Sustained Excellence in Teaching.

Matteo Bergamini (Day 3)

Biography

Matteo BergaminiMatteo Bergamini MBE is a pioneering figure in the field of Political and Media literacy, having founded SOUK at the age of 22 in 2015.

Since 2020, Matteo has orchestrated London Voter Registration Week for the Greater London Authority, a now yearly campaign that brings together all 33 local authorities and a wide civil society coalition.

Matteo took part in the Verified UN anti-disinformation campaign, has given evidence before House of Lords select committees, and was the driving force behind the Channel 4 Youth Leaders’ Debate in 2015 and the APPG on Political and Media Literacy, launched in 2024.

Matteo was appointed to NewsGuard’s Board of News Literacy Advisors in 2023, is a member of Meta’s EU Digital Working Group, since 2022, and is a member of the Editorial Board for the The Digital Citizenship Map, an initiative of the Lisbon Council and the Digital Citizenship Working Group. He was selected in 2018 by the US embassy in London to take part in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) run by the US State Department and was added to the Forbes Under 30 Social Impact list in 2021.

He was made an MBE by King Charles III for Services to Charity, Social Enterprise and Education in the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours.
