Getting to LILAC 2020

Details on our location and how to get to there.

How to find us:

For comprehensive information please visit the MMU website.

Air:

The nearest airport to the venue is Manchester International Airport; there are frequent trains and trams from here to Manchester City Centre. Trains are direct from the airport to the city centre (20 minute journey) and run every 10 minutes. More information can be found on the Manchester airport website where you can also find tram, bus and taxi information.

Rail:

Manchester is served by regular trains from many UK cities to one of four stations:

  • Manchester Oxford Road Railway Station; The Brooks Building is just a ten minute walk from Oxford Road Station.
  • Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station; Piccadilly Station is connected to local, regional and national rail services and via the West Coast Mainline. You can walk to the Brooks building in 20-25 minutes from Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, take the 147 bus to Oxford Road. The 147 bus runs every 10-15 minutes throughout the working day. This is then a 10 minute walk to the LILAC venue.
  • Deansgate Railway Station; Deansgate is the closest station to the Brooks building and provides access to local rail services on the Manchester-Liverpool route. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the venue.
  • Manchester Victoria Railway Station; Victoria Station is on the northern side of the city centre. You can walk to The Brooks building in 30-35 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the free Metroshuttle Service 2 (Green Line) from Victoria Station Approach (Stop NY) and disembark at Whitworth Street. The Metroshuttle services run every 10 minutes during the day. This will leave a 15-20 minute walk to the building.

Road:

We advise all conference participants to use public transport. However, should you need it for directions, the postcode of the Brooks Building is M15 6GX. Parking is not available at the MMU campus.
