This award (sponsored by the CILIP Information Literacy Group) enables two students to attend the entire event. The award consists of full conference registration, travel (from the UK only) and accommodation expenses where appropriate.
The award is aimed at newly qualifying professionals. We welcome applications from full-time or part-time students (including distance-learners) registered for a UK-based first degree or taught postgraduate qualification in information/library studies or information literacy. It is not essential that applicants are current members of CILIP or its Information Literacy Group.
The statement should be sent along with a brief email providing full contact details and identifying the course which the applicant is pursuing. Applications will be judged on the basis of addressing clearly, succinctly and with evidence the required areas highlighted above whilst adhering to the set word limit.
In the interest of fairness in the judging process, applicants are requested not to make explicit reference to the names of particular institutions in which they are employed or universities where they study within their statement. However, applicants are free to make references to the nature of their current position/role and responsibilities.
The award will be judged by a small panel of experts appointed by the LILAC committee. The judges’ decision will be final. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in early March.
One of the successful applicants will be required to write a report on the conference for a future issue of the Journal of Information Literacy (JIL) The other recipient will choose between interviewing the conference’s bursary winners for a JIL feature or creating a short video reflecting on their experiences at the conference; the latter will be posted on the LILAC website.
Closing date: 17.00 (GMT) Friday February 17th 2017
Please direct enquiries and send applications to Nigel Morgan (LILAC Awards Officer) at LilacAwards@cardiff.ac.uk
