Student Award: Sponsored Place at LILAC 2015

This award (sponsored by the CILIP Information Literacy Group) enables two students to attend LILAC. The award consists of full conference registration, travel and accommodation expenses.

We welcome applications from full-time or part-time students (including distance-learners) registered for a UK-based first degree or a taught postgraduate qualification in information/library studies or information literacy.  It is not essential that applicants are current members of CILIP or its Information Literacy Group.

To apply

Applications should take the form of a statement (maximum 500 words) which:

The successful applicants will be required to contribute a conference-related report to a future issue of the Journal of Information Literacy.

Applications will be judged by a small panel of experts appointed by the LILAC committee.  The judges’ decision will be final.  Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in early March 2015.

Applications will be judged according to the following criteria

  1. Has the applicant reflected on the specific benefits/knowledge that they hope to gain from attending LILAC? Has this been appropriately expressed in their application?
  2. Has the applicant reflected on how this new knowledge is likely to help with their professional development?
  3. Is there evidence that the applicant has reflected on how the acquired knowledge might be applied in a practical setting or their learning environment? and how this might be disseminated to others?
  4. Does the applicant make a convincing case why he/she wishes to attend LILAC?
  5. Has the applicant reflected on the specific benefits/knowledge that they hope to gain from attending LILAC? Has this been appropriately expressed in their application?
  6. Has the applicant reflected on how this new knowledge is likely to help with their professional development?
  7. Is there evidence that the applicant has reflected on how the acquired knowledge might be applied in a practical setting and how this might be disseminated to others?
  8. Is there evidence of a genuine enthusiasm for, and commitment to information literacy?

    PLEASE NOTE: If you are registered on an appropriate course at ANY point during the current year of the award you are eligible to apply. Previous applicants will be accepted.

    If you are currently on pre-study placement e.g. SCONUL Graduate Library Trainee programme, you will not be eligible to apply until you have registered for you chosen course.
